Business Opportunities in Special Economic Zones

| |

In order to boost economic development of some regions of Poland, Special Economic Zones were established within the country. Currently, there are fourteen Special Economic Zones, three of which are situated in the Lower Silesian voivodship, i.e. the Legnica Special Economic Zone, the Kamienna Gora Special Economic Zone for Small Business and the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone.

All of them offer preferential terms on which businesses may operate in the zones, e.g. corporate income and property tax exemptions. A special permit is required for running ventures within the zone. The permit may be obtained from the management of each of the zones. The management also offers assistance to prospective entrepreneurs during the whole investment procedures.

As for the geographical location, the three Special Economic Zones of Lower Silesia are conveniently situated and accessible by a good communications network.

The most dynamic and the largest zone is the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone INVEST-PARK (WSEZ) which covers the area of o ver812 ha and is divided into 15 sub-zones, thirteen of which are within the boundaries of Lower Silesian voivodship. As far as the area is concerned, the Kamienna Gora Special Economic Zone for Small Business comes next with the area equal to 240.80 ha. It is divided into eight sub-zones. Currently, free investment sites are still on offer. The good news for prospective investors is that they can benefit from the public financial support in the amount up to 65 % of the total investment value. So far as many as 27 investors have invested over PLN 600 million within the zone. Here are the industry sectors they have invested into: automotive industry, metal industry, wood processing, textiles, ceramics and printing industry.
