The construction of the motorway ringroad around Wroclaw has been assigned by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) priority status as the most important investment for the city of Wroclaw until 2012.

The project will be completed in stages. The close to 2.5 km section connecting Kobierzyce and the almost 12 km fragment of the motorway will be constructed for PLN 780m (€235.6m) by Budimex Dromex; meanwhile, a 13 km section of the motorway, a fragment of S8 expressway in the Pawlowice junction and the 5.7 km Dlugoleka connection will be completed at a cost of PLN 2bn (€0.6bn) by the consortium of Strabag, Heilit + Woerner Budowlana, Dywidag Bau and Mostostal Warszawa. In turn the building of a bridge found along the route has been entrusted Mostostal Warszawa and Acciona Infraestructuras, at a cost of PLN 576.7m (€174.2m).

In line with the design, the new ringroad of 35.4 km will cut through the north-western peripheries of the city and will be built as a motorway; it will have two two-lane roadways which will intersect with the following junctions in: Kobierzyce, Cesarzowice, Lotnisko, Kosmonautow, Widawa and Nowa Wies.
