The Lower Silesia region of Poland has developed excellent tourist facilities to take advantage of its wealth of beautiful countryside. It is a region attractive to tourists, particularly those wanting to escape the hubbub of city life and who are in search of tranquillity and nature.

You can wander through Lower Silesia throughout the year, tailoring your activities to the weather conditions. Lower Silesia also offers adventure, recreation and an unforgettable way to spend your winter vacations.

Lower Silesia is especially attractive in winter on account of its numerous mountain ranges such as the picturesque, enchanting Karkonosze, with its highest and most beautiful peak Sniezka. The Karkonosze could be described as the epitome of winter in Lower Silesia.

Mount Sniezka

Winter here is good news for snow lovers. The Sudety mountain range has ideal conditions for all snow activities. Snow falls early and does not melt until late spring. Beautiful, wide and easy slopes and excellent infrastructure such as marked trails, mountain retreats, guesthouses and "agro-tourism" centers please even the most discerning of skiers and guarantee comfortable and active vacations for tourists.

Cross-country skiing is possible on marked trails in the Sniezka Massif and in the Bialskie, Bystrzyckie and Sowie Mountains. Skiers have at their disposal some 50 kilometers of professionally prepared cross-country trails in the most attractive part of the Izerskie Mountains. In March each year this region hosts the Piast Race, the biggest cross-country skiing event in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. A long and snowy winter in a climate more reminiscent of Scandinavia and high-altitude valleys, meadows and pastures also attract dog sledding enthusiasts.

The Karkonosze Mountains

The Karkonosze mountains also have excellent downhill skiing facilities. Many kilometers of well-prepared trails and numerous lifts await skiers. These facilities and the many guesthouses, hotels and restaurants combine to offer visitors high-class resorts in Lower Silesia. Every skier and snowboarder should find something here to their liking.
